An important note is that for the first civ closest to me, I send 2-3 citizens to scout out their initial expansion and try to delay it (by killing the citizen working on it) if I can prevent them from completing it, then they instantly lose when I take over their capital. When citizens reach enemy civs, usually I have them harass which messes up their econ. Citizens go off exploring every which direction for ruins, plus also toward enemy civs. Get food from ruins since you won't need the timber for farms. Their early game is that strong.Įarly game strategy is to spam citizens. I haven't found any other nation that I can do 3vs5 toughest as easily with (games usually take much longer) and never a 2vs6 toughest as anyone except Lakota. Then it's a matter of holding off the counterattack by the remaining civs (which is generally around right when I take the 3rd civ's capital and is the hardest part of the game) until I can econ/tech to finish the remaining civs. What I found have worked the best as Lakota is to start by early rushing the nearest 3 civs, using the capital loot to help fuel the next rush. If you get a lot of food early on, then you'll continue swimming in food throughout the game.įor me, I play only vs AI, generally 3vs5 or 2vs6 toughest.

If you don't invest enough in food early on, you'll run out of it mid- to late-game. Early on they're not brilliant, but past Gunpowder they start to become a military powerhouse with the instant wonder and free government.įood does heavily dictate how to play as Lakota. Germans are a great economic nation, not much for me to say as they speak for themselves with all the eco bonuses they get.Īnd finally Americans are better as they get further in the game. Higher pop limit is also very nice in game modes like nomad, where you would otherwise hit the pop cap very often. You have faster movement speed on ground units, useful for raiding and it's nearly impossible to lose units if you have good micromanagement - you can always run away from unfavourable engagements. Cheaper cities + 1 city limit is good for a fast expand. Big cities is also not much of a deal.įor me, Bantu have the top spot. Cheaper science and instant villagers is nice, but that's kind of it. Apart from that Russia get very few bonuses worth talking about.Īs for Chinese, they can be ok but nothing special. It's even more useless once you get the smelter second upgrades. Attrition is easily overcome by having a despot or supply waggon.
